Summary
As of April 8, there are eleven (11) new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 271 reported cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.
- No (0) new cases were Saskatchewan residents tested out of province
- 271 cases are confirmed and no (0) cases are presumptive (waiting for confirmation by NML)
- 165 cases out of the 271 cases are considered active (60.9%)
- 135 cases are in the Saskatoon area, 56 cases are from the Regina area, 51 cases are from the north area, 15 cases are from the south area, ten (10) cases are from the central area and four (4) cases are in the far north
- Fifteen (15) of the cases are individuals in the 0-19 year old category; all others are adults, with 54% of the cases are males and 46% are females
- 44% (119) of cases are travel-related, 33% (90) are either contacts or linked to a mass gathering event, 6% (16) have no known exposures and 17% (46) are under investigation by local public health
- Twenty-six (26) cases are healthcare workers, although the source of their infections may not be health care related.
- A total of eight (8) individuals are hospitalized; including six (6) inpatient hospitalizations and two (2) in ICU hospitalizations
- Three (3) Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died. Saskatchewan now has a fatality rate of 1.1%
- A total of one hundred three (103) individuals have recovered (38.0%)
