Summary
As of April 28th, there is one (1) new case of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, one (1) new confirmed case and no (0) new presumptive positive cases, bringing the total to 366 reported cases
- The new case is in the Regina (1) region
- No (0) new cases were Saskatchewan residents tested out of province
- 366 cases are confirmed and none (0) are presumptive (referred to RRPL/NML for confirmatory testing)
- 70 cases out of the 366 cases are considered active (19.1%)
- 150 cases are in the Saskatoon area, 75 cases are from the Regina area, 69 cases are from the north, 46 cases are in the far north, 15 cases are from the south and 11 cases are from the central area
- Thirty (30) of the cases are individuals in the 19 and under age category; all others are adults, with 51% of the cases are males and 49% are females
- 38% (138) of cases are travel-related, 41% (150) are either contacts or linked to a mass gathering event, 10% (35) have no known exposures and 12% (43) are under investigation by local public health
- Thirty-eight (38) cases are healthcare workers, although the source of their infections may not be health care related
- A total of eight (8) individuals are hospitalized; including six (6) inpatient hospitalizations and two (2) in ICU hospitalization
- Five (5) Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died. Saskatchewan now has a fatality rate of 1.4%
- A total of 291 individuals have recovered (79.5%)
- 28,632 COVID-19 tests had been performed in Saskatchewan.
