Cases and Risk of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan

Summary

As of May 2, there are six (6) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, bringing the total to 421 reported cases. *Please note that there are eight (8) locally identified presumptive positive cases from the La Loche area. These cases are not yet being reported by the RRPL, so are not yet included in the total figures reported May 2.

  • New cases are in the North (4), Saskatoon (1) and Regina (1) regions
  • No (0) new cases were Saskatchewan residents tested out of province
  • 421 cases are confirmed.
  • 113 cases out of the 421 cases are considered active (26.8%)
  • 157 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 85 cases are from the north, 77 cases are in the far north, 76 cases are from the Regina area, 15 cases are from the south and 11 cases are from the central area
  • 39 of the cases are individuals in the 19 and under age category; all others are adults, with 50% of the cases are males and 50% are females
  • 138 of cases are travel-related, 170 are either contacts or linked to a mass gathering event, 39 have no known exposures and 74 are under investigation by local public health
  • 42 cases are healthcare workers, although the source of their infections may not be health care related
  • A total of 12 individuals are hospitalized; including 10 inpatient hospitalizations and two (2) in ICU hospitalization
  • Six (6) Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died. Saskatchewan now has a fatality rate of 1.4%
  • A total of 302 individuals have recovered (71.7%)
  • 30,845 COVID-19 tests had been performed in Saskatchewan
