37 new deaths and 577 new cases confirmed
- the HPSC has been notified that 37 people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died, bringing the total to 829 deaths (2 have been de-notified from earlier statistics).
There have also been a total of 185 probable deaths due to COVID-19 bringing the total death total to 1014. (A probable death is a death where a laboratory test has not been done but where a doctor believes a death is associated with COVID-19)
- 577 additional cases have been confirmed in Ireland
- there are now 18, 184 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland
Breakdown of the 829 laboratory confirmed COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland
- 406 (49%) deaths occurred in a hospital setting
- 53 (6.4%) occurred in Intensive Care Units (ICU)
- 441 males (53%) and 388 females (47%)
- the median age was 83
- the mean age was 81
- the age range was between 23 and 105
Breakdown of the 340 cases admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICU)
- 142 (42%) people remain in Intensive Care Units
- 144 (43)) people have been discharged
- 53 people died
- 283 (83.5%) people had underlying conditions
- the median age was 60
Breakdown of COVID-19 in community residential settings
- there have been 336 clusters identified in community residential settings, 198 of which have been in nursing homes
- there have been a total of 3277 cases identified in community residential settings, 2500 of which have been in nursing homes
- 452 people have died in community residential settings, 376 of whom died in hospital settings
- we are now reporting 'probable deaths due to COVID-19' in these figures too. The figures for those are 124 probable deaths due to COVID-19; 112 of which occurred in nursing homes
