Clarifications on Misinformation
27 Mar 2020: We are aware of a message circulating on social media and text messaging platforms about a Safe-Distancing Ambassador who allegedly issued a $300 fine to a person for sitting on a seat which was marked as ‘not to be occupied’. We wish to clarify that this false.
Safe-Distancing Ambassadors are deployed to help ensure that safe distancing measures are complied with. They do not issue fines.

27 Mar 2020: We are aware of scammers using automated voice calls or impersonating as MOH staff or contact tracing team, asking users to provide personal information including financial details, or collect documents from the Ministry. We wish to clarify that:
- MOH will not ask for your financial details during contact tracing; and
- MOH will not ask you to collect documents from us, if you do not have existing matters with us.
When in doubt, please verify the authenticity of phone calls by calling MOH hotline at 1800-333-9999. It is a good practice to always verify the authenticity of instructions before offering any personal information or making payments to anyone.
We advise members of the public to not speculate and/or spread unfounded rumours. Please visit www.moh.gov.sg for updates on the COVID-19 situation and click here for past clarifications.
