As of 11 October 2020, 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified 3 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection. All 3 reside in dormitories and there is none in the community. In addition, there are 7 imported cases, who had all been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival. Amongst the new cases today, 10 are asymptomatic, and were detected from proactive screening and surveillance. 

Among the cases:

  • Cases in the community: 0
    There are no cases in the community today.
  • Cases residing in dormitories: 3   
    • 3 asymptomatic

Amongst the 3 cases residing in dormitories, 2 had been identified earlier as contacts of previous cases, and had already been quarantined to prevent further transmission. The remaining case was detected through our bi-weekly Rostered Routine Testing of workers living in dormitories.

  • Imported cases: 7
    • 7 asymptomatic

Amongst the 7 imported cases, 2 cases are Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from Indonesia. Another 3 cases are Work Permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from Malaysia and the Philippines. The remaining 2 cases are Dependant’s Pass holders who arrived from the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.

They had all been placed on 14-day SHN upon arrival in Singapore, and were tested while serving SHN even though all of them are asymptomatic.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from an average of 2 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 1 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from an average of 1 case per day in the week before, to none in the past week.

All the new cases today are imported or linked to known cases/clusters.

7 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 57,705 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities. 

Most of the 44 confirmed cases who are still in hospital are stable or improving. 1 is in the intensive care unit.

100 cases who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. 

27 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
