Das neuartige Corona-Virus gehört zur großen Familie der Coronaviren, die beim Menschen leichte Erkältungen bis hin zu schweren Lungenentzündungen verursachen können. The novel corona virus belongs to the large family of corona viruses, which can cause mild colds to severe pneumonia in humans. COVID-19 heißt die Erkrankung, die durch das neuartige Corona-Virus (SARS-CoV-2) ausgelöst wird. COVID-19 is the name of the disease that is caused by the novel corona virus (SARS-CoV-2).
Wie äußert sich die Krankheit COVID-19? How does the disease COVID-19 express itself?
Es gibt unterschiedliche Verlaufsformen der Erkrankung. There are different forms of the disease. Diese reichen von milden Beschwerden einer Erkältung über Husten, Atembeschwerden oder Fieber bis zu schweren Fällen. These range from mild symptoms of a cold to coughing, difficulty breathing or fever to severe cases. Die Infektion kann dabei auch eine Lungenentzündung, ein schweres akutes Atemnotsyndrom, Nierenversagen und sogar den Tod verursachen. The infection can also cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory distress syndrome, kidney failure, and even death.
Wie lange dauert die Inkubationszeit? How long is the incubation period?
Man geht derzeit von einer Inkubationszeit von 2 bis 14 Tagen aus. An incubation period of 2 to 14 days is currently assumed.
Wie ist das Virus übertragbar? How is the virus transmitted?
Die Übertragung erfolgt von Mensch zu Mensch über Tröpfcheninfektion (Husten, Niesen, Küssen), über Hand-Mund-Augenkontakt oder Kontakt mit kontaminierten Händen oder Oberflächen. The transmission takes place from person to person via droplet infection (coughing, sneezing, kissing), hand-mouth-eye contact or contact with contaminated hands or surfaces.
Wie erfolgt der Schutz vor Ansteckung? How is protection against infection carried out?
- Vermeiden Sie Kontakt zu kranken Menschen, die an Husten, Atembeschwerden oder Fieber leiden. Avoid contact with sick people who suffer from cough, difficulty breathing or fever.

Vor allem sind Menschen mit engem Kontakt zu einem an COVID-19 Erkrankten gefährdet, wie zB Familienangehörige, medizinisches Personal, ohne entsprechende Schutzausrüstung.
