Summary
As of April 17, there is one (1) new confirmed case and one (1) new presumptive case, bringing the total to 307 reported cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.
- 306 cases are confirmed and one (1) is presumptive (referred to RRPL/NML for confirmatory testing)
- 75 cases out of the 307 cases are considered active
- 147 cases are in the Saskatoon area, 69 cases are from the Regina area, 58 cases are from the north area, 15 cases are from the south area, ten (10) cases are from the central area and eight (8) cases are in the far north
- Twenty-three (23) of the cases are individuals in the 0-19 year old category; all others are adults, with 52% of the cases are males and 48% are females
- 133 cases are travel-related, 129 are either contacts or linked to a mass gathering event, 29 have no known exposures and 16 are under investigation by local public health
- Thirty-five (35) cases are healthcare workers, although the source of their infections may not be health care related
- A total of six (6) individuals are hospitalized; including five (5) inpatient hospitalizations and one (1) in ICU hospitalization
- Four (4) Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died. Saskatchewan now has a fatality rate of 1.3%
- A total of 228 individuals have recovered (74.3%)
- 22,207 COVID-19 tests had been performed in Saskatchewan.
