Cases and Risk of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan

Summary

As of April 18, there are three (3) new confirmed cases and three (3) new presumptive cases, bringing the total to 313 reported cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.

  • 310 cases are confirmed and three (3) are presumptive (referred to RRPL/NML for confirmatory testing)
  • 75 cases out of the 313 cases are considered active
  • 148 cases are in the Saskatoon area, 70 cases are from the Regina area, 59 cases are from the north area, 15 cases are from the south area, 11 cases are from the central area and 10 cases are in the far north
  • Twenty-three (23) of the cases are individuals in the 0-19 year old category; all others are adults, with 52% of the cases are males and 48% are females
  • 134 cases are travel-related, 132 are either contacts or linked to a mass gathering event, 29 have no known exposures and 18 are under investigation by local public health
  • Thirty-five (35) cases are healthcare workers, although the source of their infections may not be health care related
  • A total of five (5) individuals are hospitalized; including four (4) inpatient hospitalizations and one (1) in ICU hospitalization
  • Four (4) Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died. Saskatchewan now has a fatality rate of 1.3%
  • A total of 234 individuals have recovered (74.8%)
  • 23,092 COVID-19 tests had been performed in Saskatchewan.
