Epidemiological update

Situation update 27 February 8:00 CET

As of 27 February, 477 cases and 14 deaths have been reported in the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland:

  • 400 cases in Italy (three imported, 397 locally acquired),
  • 21 cases in Germany (four imported, 17 locally acquired),
  • 17 cases in France (eight imported, nine locally acquired),
  • 13 cases in the United Kingdom (12 imported, one locally acquired),
  • 12 cases in Spain (eleven imported, one local),
  • two cases in Austria (two imported),
  • two cases in Croatia (one imported, one local), 
  • two cases in Finland (two imported),
  • two cases in Sweden (two imported),
  • one case in Belgium (imported),
  • one in Denmark (imported),
  • one in Greece (imported),
  • one in Norway (imported),
  • one in Romania (local)
  • one in Switzerland (imported).

Twelve deaths have been reported in Italy; two deaths has been reported in France.

Weekly threats reports (CDTR)

The ECDC Communicable disease threats reports are a weekly summary of all information gathered through epidemic intelligence activities regarding communicable diseases of concern to the EU. It also provides updates on the global situation and changes in the epidemiology of communicable diseases with potential to affect Europe. Diseases that are the focus of eradication efforts are also included.
