28 new deaths and 936 new cases confirmed
- the HPSC has been notified that 28 people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died, bringing the total to 794 deaths (3 deaths have been de-notified from earlier figures)
- 936 additional cases have been confirmed in Ireland (this rise is mainly due to a large rise in testing in community residential settings)
- there are now 16,671 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland
Breakdown of the 794 total COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland
- 392 (49%) deaths occurred in a hospital setting
- 50 (6.5%) occurred in Intensive Care Units (ICU)
- 421 males (53%) and 373 females (47%)
- the median age was 83
- the age range was between 23 and 105
Breakdown of the 332 cases admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICU)
- 142 (43%) people remain in Intensive Care Units
- 139 (42%%) people have been discharged
- 50 (15%) people died
- 277 (84%) people had underlying conditions
- the median age was 60
Breakdown of COVID-19 in community residential settings
- there have been 319 clusters identified in community residential settings, 191 of which have been in nursing homes
- there have been a total of 2960 cases identified in community residential settings, 2231 of which have been in nursing homes
- 433 people have died in community residential settings, 103 of whom died in hospital settings
