The Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) supports Governor Andy Beshear’s prioritization of health care as a basic human right and believes every Kentucky family deserves to see a doctor and receive treatment.

Recognizing that COVID-19-related deaths currently rank third among causes of death in Kentucky, KDPH is planning for the equitable distribution of a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine that will advance Governor Beshear’s healthcare priority. Phase	Description
1A	Long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, health care personnel
1B	Anyone age 70 or older, First responders, Kentucky K-12 school personnel, Kentucky child care workers
1C	Anyone age 50 or older, anyone age 16 or older with medical or behavioral health conditions per the CDC that "are" or "might be" at increased risk of severe COVID-19 disease, all essential workers
2	Anyone age 40 or older
3	Anyone age 16 or older
4	Children under the age of 16 if the vaccine is approved for this age group (est. 18% of KY population)

GOAL

Administer 90% of all vaccine received in state within 7 days of arrival.

Adults of any age with medical or behavioral health conditions per the CDC that “are” or “might be” at increased risk of severe COVID-19 disease:

Cancer
Chronic kidney disease
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
Down Syndrome
Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies
Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from solid organ transplant
Obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 30 kg/m2 or higher but less than 40 kg/m2)
Severe Obesity (body mass index [BMI] equal to or greater than 40 kg/m2)
Pregnancy
Sickle cell disease
Type 2 diabetes mellitus
Asthma (moderate-to-severe)
Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain)
Cystic fibrosis
Hypertension of high blood pressure
Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from blood, bone marrow, or organ transplant; HIV; use of corticosteroids; or use of other immune weakening medicines
Neurologic conditions including, but not limited to, dementia and Intellectual or developmental disability
Liver disease
Overweight (BMI higher than 25 kg/m2, but less than 30 kg/m2)
Pulmonary fibrosis (having damaged or scarred lung tissues)
Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
Type 1 diabetes mellitus
