The source of the number of doses delivered to Delaware is the Federal government. Healthcare providers administering COVID vaccine are required to report vaccinations through the State's DelVAX Program. DelVAX is the source of the number of vaccine doses administered.

More doses have been administered than are showing up on the vaccine tracker. This is because of healthcare provider delays in reporting doses administered to DelVAX. Doses remaining, therefore, is likely to be lower than is shown. Of the doses which have not been administered some are in the DPH warehouse and are being distributed daily to enrolled providers and pharmacies and/or will be used for mass vaccination events. The remainder are with our health care partners.

*Note: Delivery information is based upon reports from the federal tracking database Tiberius. The Tiberius database recently began including doses delivered to pharmacies as part of the federal pharmacy programs (i.e. Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program and Federal Retail Pharmacy Program). Therefore, we are now able to incorporate those totals on Delaware’s vaccine tracker here.

Please also note, while federal allocation/delivery of vaccine doses is currently based on 5 doses per Pfizer vial and 10 doses per Moderna vial, vaccine providers are typically able to administer 6 doses of Pfizer vaccine per vial, which would lead to a larger number of doses administered than delivered. The federal government will adjust the doses delivered in the coming weeks to include the 6th dose now that vaccinators around the country have reliably been able to obtain it. For that reason, the “total doses remaining” may not currently reflect the true number of doses available for use at any given time.
