NC State Laboratory of Public Health (NCSLPH)
The numbers in this section represent only NCSLPH testing and supplies.
- Now that commercial and hospital laboratories are online with testing and expanding capacity, the NCSLPH will continue to work with partners across the public health systems to support identification and confirmation of COVID-19, assess the prevalence of COVID-19 in a community, and provide testing for underserved populations who may not have access to commercial testing.
- Supplies for approximately 1,200 patients at the NCSLPH and does not include supplies at university and commercial laboratories.
- 1,134 total tests completed at the NCSLPH and does not include tests at university and commercial laboratories.

- March 10: Executive Order 116 declares a state of emergency to coordinate response and protective actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19
- March 16: NCDHHS recommends no mass gatherings for more than 50 people
- March 17: Governor Cooper issues Executive Order 118 limiting operations of restaurants and bars, and broadening unemployment insurance benefits
- March 21: Executive Order 119 waives restrictions on child care and elder care, provides DMV flexibilities
- March 23: Governor Cooper issues Executive Order 120 extends school closure date to May; orders group limit to 50 people
- March 25: North Carolina Reports First COVID-19 Associated Deaths
- March 26: The second COVID-19 associated death was a Harnett County (NC) patient in their late thirties who had an underlying medical condition.
