ATTENTION: All test results conducted through the OSDH public health laboratory are sent to the ordering physician or submitting clinical facility. Results will not be provided by phone, nor will the status of the pending test be advised by phone. If test results are positive, public health officials initiate an investigation, which results in notifying the patient and provider to conduct the case investigation and contact tracing.
COVID-19 is a new virus identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and which continues to expand. Chinese health officials have reported thousands of infections with COVID-19 in China, with the virus reportedly spreading from person-to-person in many parts of that country. Infections with COVID-19, most of them associated with travel from Wuhan, also are being reported in a growing number of international locations, including the United States.

The Oklahoma public health system has activated the Incident Command System and stands ready with a multitude of statewide and national partners to treat and minimize further spread. Public health officials will continue to work with health care providers and medical facilities to ensure proper assessment, testing and treatment protocols. State and local public health officials will continue to monitor travelers and any individuals who test positive for COVID-19.

In response to the rapidly evolving response to COVID-19 in our state, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) is actively increasing capacity around the state to meet local needs. A significant part of this effort is ensuring the talent and support that exists is being accurately utilized in priority areas.
As Oklahomans work together to aggressively stop the spread of COVID-19, the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) today is issuing and strengthening guidelines for child care facilities. At this time, child care providers will remain a critical function in the state to address demands from health care workers, front line responders, grocer employees and other critical industries.
Editors note: Due to a change in a reported address, the table for county cases has been updated to reflect nine cases in Cleveland County and no cases in Stephens County. The total case count remains at 44.
