CoronaVirus (COVID-19) Updates

Latest: Dining Restrictions for Salt Lake, Summit Counties

Food service prohibitions: Salt Lake County and Summit County are both prohibiting dine-in food service at restaurants and bars. Take-out, delivery and grocery shopping is still permitted but with tighter rules.

Current cases: A total of 29 Utah residents and seven visitors have tested positive for the virus. That includes the first case in Wasatch County, where a student who attends Wasatch High School tested positive. As updated Monday, that is eight new cases with residents and three with visitors. The other new resident cases were in Davis (1), Salt Lake County (2), Summit (2), Tooele, and Weber-Morgan (1). Salt Lake had two new visitor cases and Summit had one more visitor case. Numbers will be updated daily at around 12:45.

Diamond Princess: Monday evening, four more passengers from the Diamond Princess cruise ship that docked in Oakland last week retuned to the state. None of the 27 total passengers who returned have any symptoms of COVID-19 and have either tested negative or are waiting for test results.

Zoo, Museums Close: Hogle Zoo will close Tuesday. Hill Aerospace Museum and Thanksgiving Point have also closed to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Space for doctors: Many health systems are asking people to reschedule non-essential medical visits and call before visiting a walk-in clinic to allow medical staff to focus on the COVID-19 crisis. This is particularly important if you are showing symptoms of COVID-19 because of the importance of protecting others from exposure.

State officials are encouraging everyone to take serious precautions, especially staying at least six-feet away from other people and staying home if showing any symptoms.
